Once again, I am in the sweet position of that insider information. My job rules.

On Sunday October 10, 2010 the Vanderbilt Public Relations Society will be presenting their first Inaugural Fashion Show titled “Scene and Heard”. The show is designed to “bring together ELITE Designers, along with Nashville’s Leading Industry Professionals”. Proceeds from the event will benefit Soles4Souls, the Nashville-based charity that distributes shoes to those in need. According to a V.P.R.S. email, “The show will serve as a networking event as well as provide designers, models, and business leaders with vital promotion to the greater Nashville area and college demographic.” Musical beats will be provided by DJ Rain and Captivating Light Designs will partner with the show for all lighting needs. Below is more information about the event per the V.P.R.S. email:

The Vanderbilt Public Relations Society’s (VPRS) purpose is to serve as a liaison between those interested in any aspect of Public Relations and those who have already established a career in the field. We also provide a realm of opportunity for local Nashville businesses with creative and ambitious individuals to gain publicity throughout local colleges and universities and penetrate this large demographic.

Finally, we help college students interested in the Public Relations Society obtain internships to further their career. Cofounded by Imani Ellis and Francesca Amiker, the Vanderbilt Public Relations Society was established to help cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners while organizing interest forums for students that have interests in journalism, communications, marketing, advertising, & broadcasting. The goal is to impact the greater Nashville community by volunteering, giving back, and leading by example.

Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and closets and distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 10 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 7 seconds.) The shoes have been distributed to people in over 125 countries and has been featured in Runner's World, Ladies’ Home Journal, National Geographic’s Green Guide, and The New York Times.
