There is a new kid in town! It is with great excitement that I announce the launch of All Most Famous, independent fashion marketing, sales and comprehensive representation.

As many of many of you know, my background is in music, but my passion for fashion runs deep. I am constantly on the lookout for the newest, latest and most creative clothing. Over the years I have encountered many talented designers who want to begin a label but are they are not sure how to get their product to the public. There are others who have already found success but they desire to take their brand to the next level. As a musical artist, there are many avenues to help: record labels, management, booking agents, distributors, etc. So I thought, “Why not create a new business model that gives fashion and accessory designers the same type of support available for musicians?” And that is how All Most Famous was born.

We exist to create great opportunities for independent fashion and accessory designers. We do this through the means of public relations, marketing strategies, branding, and wholesale to boutiques.  I have partnered with Britt Johnson – an expert in the marketing and public relations field – and together we have created a company that will help introduce some of the best design talent in the country.

Joining our ever-growing roster are the talents of:
 Tidwell and Perryman, a Nashville based clothing line that focuses on creating a look that fits every man and woman’s unique personality and lifestyle. Tidwell and Perryman’s premiere home, Local Honey, will soon open in a new location in Nashville at 2009 Belmont Blvd where they will have double the inventory in both women and men’s collections. They can also be found at Fanny's House of Music in historical East Nashville.
 Concrete Response, a timeless reaction to city currents. With industrial undertones, there is a strong emphasis on raw materials and refined silhouettes. Being heavily influenced by the concept of the modern time traveler, Concrete Response's head designer Justin Wootton introduces color pallets and stories that transition from day to night and subtle detailing that allows each garment to transition from season to season.
 J&HP, coming from New York to California to their new home in Nashville, J&HP is redefining what it means to create vintage inspired apparel. Within a year and a half of origination, they have set the internet community ablaze by creating beautifully tailored, limited quantity, affordable clothing.

Unleashed, Dinner with Your Dog: January 22, 2011

This is quite possibly the most adorable event I’ve heard of! In an effort to raise money to continue their charitable cause, the Nashville Humane Association is hosting Unleashed, a dinner with your dog on January 22, 2011 at the Hutton Hotel. Guests will enjoy cocktails, dinner, and a “Canine Couture fashion show featuring a few of Nashville’s rising clothing designers”. I may have to adopt a new friend just to attend!

Local Honey Holiday Soiree: December 17, 2010

Its old news by now, but Nashville darling Local Honey will be relocating to 2009 Belmont Blvd. the first week of January 2011. The quaint location housing the retailer has sold, and owner Shea Steele was forced to relocate. But this isn’t all bad. According to the Local Honey Blog, the new location is bigger, and will have special housing for designers Tidwell and Perryman, White Rabbit, and Jamie and the Jones. Alexia Abegg will also be running a sewing school “offering beginning to advanced classes in sewing, drafting, and quilting” in the new location. Read all about the move here.

What I'm Thankful For This Holiday Season: The Spirit of Nashville Fashion

Last weekend I missed ALL of the Nashville fashion festivities and have been kicking myself ever since. I had planned a trip back to my pre-Nashville city to spend some quality time with my older brother and dear friends. And although my time in College Town, USA was well-spent and ever-so-fun, I must admit that I am absolutely bummed I missed the Emmaline holiday party, East Nashville Boutique Crawl, Rumor Has It fashion show, Shop and Wine Open House,  and Nashville Lifestyles’ Ladies Night Out. Why were there so many good events the weekend I was gone?!? But missing out on all of these events, actually made me grateful for something- that we have all of these fashion options to choose from! I’m not just talking about the Friday and Saturday night events and shows, but the idea that there are a multitude of local retail destinations to choose from in this city. Sometimes you don’t realize how fortunate you are until you look back at where you came from.

I spent the previous seven years in Lexington, Kentucky, earning my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fashion Merchandising from the University of Kentucky. And just as much as I love shopping now, I loved it just as much in Lexington. As I’m sure you can imagine, Lexington just isn't the city that Nashville is. There is more to do in Nashville- culture, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, etc.. And what I’ve found to be decidedly different about these two cities- the culture around and support for locally-produced goods and local retailers.

I attempted to hit up my favorite local boutiques in Lexington and was shocked at my discovery. The upscale Helen’s Boutique, featuring darling dresses and one-of-a-kind pieces, had long been abandoned. Brown paper covered the windows; who knows how long the building had sat untouched. My college favorite, General Eccentric, where I could purchase unique clothing at an affordable price, had been transformed into a UK merchandise store. Blue sweatshirts and cartoon wildcats filled the windows that were once so charming. And the eco-friendly clothing store? That’s now a hair salon.

It can only be expected that things change, new retailers pop up, and old ones shut their doors. But it was astounding to see how many local boutiques had gone out of business in a town where all of them catered to the college demographic. Looking at the abandoned shops and new store owners got me thinking about the magnitude of support given to local Nashville retailers.

Through social media and blog avenues, local Nashville retailers easily spread their message and update clients on sales, events, and new merchandise being brought into the stores. Local blogs like mine, Stella Shops, and Fab Glance Nashville frequently highlight Nashville fashion happenings, and provide another voice for these retailers and designers. Sites like Nashville Fashion Events keeps you updated on local fashion events, and even provides videos and articles for your viewing and reading pleasure. And the upcoming Nashville Fashion Week has a multitude of events planned to highlight local designers and retailers, and discuss the importance of supporting these individuals in their endeavors.

There are Nashville boutique staples, like Stacey Rhodes Boutique, Posh Boutique, and Local Honey; designers like Billy Reid, Jamie and the Jones, and Valentine Valentine that have garnered a major following in the recent years. It is just so lovely to see these boutiques and designers flourish in a city that appreciates the idea of shopping local and supporting the unique individuals that make Nashville a rising fashion destination. And with the emergence of new boutiques like Made or designers like Tidwell and Perryman and the press they have received, it is nice to know that Nashville customers appreciate local-made items and support the cause.

So, this holiday season, this is what I am grateful for- a city where local retailers and designers can take a chance on a new  venture, and be supported for years to come!

Middle Tennessee Fashion Week Casting Call: December 11, 2010

Once again, Middle Tennessee Fashion Week is hosting a model call (I’m pretty sure they have one of these every other week). This casting call will take place Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Paul Mitchell school in Murfreesboro, TN.

I'm not exactly sure when MTFW will be held, and no information as to dates or potential dates are given on the website. Designers to be featured are also not indicated; a few sponsors are. According to MTFW website "Middle Tennessee Fashion Week (MTFW) is an event that highlights fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling as well as enhances the visibility of Middle Tennessee as a center of international fashion. Middle Tennessee Fashion Week produces runway events twice a year (April/Sept.) MTFW will put a spotlight on the influence of world cultures on American fashion, prove fashion can be done with ecology and fair trade in mind, present an exclusive men’s fashion show, and complete the week with a mesmerizing International Couture Collection at a location to be announced."

The always-fabulous Manuel will be hosting Coats n’ Cocktails: a Holi-daze open house on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm at his showroom on 1922 Broadway Street. As detailed on the Facebook invite, shoppers will be treated to wine, cocktails, door prizes, and live music with “a special 5:00 pm showcase”. And, if it doesn’t get better than smoozing with Nashville’s most famous fashion designer, all red and green pieces are 50% off; everything else is 20% off.

Billy Reid Pop-Up Shop: December 2, 2010, Atlanta, GA

Billy Reid, recent recipient of the $300,000 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (see original blog entry here), will be hosting a pop-up shop this Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 6:30 to 9:30 in Atlanta, GA. I know it isn’t a Nashville-based event, but I couldn’t help but give a shout-out to this amazing designer.

GQ’s menswear designer of the year is bringing selections from his fall/winter men’s and women’s collection as part of Atlanta’s first Midtown Pop Up Shop (Dec 2-5). Come enjoy Woodford Reserve bourbon, live bluegrass by Cold Pond, and check out the Southern clothier’s latest lineup.

A few other regional artisans will be featured at the four-day Pop Up Shop including Bar Denim Blues from Knoxville, Savannah Bee Company, Nashville’s Olive & Sinclair Chocolate, Yee-Haw Industries, and Atlanta’s own Love Train Antiques (which usually only sells to merchants like Restoration Hardware).
